MSR Habitude Tents

The new MSR Habitude tents are a bit of a departure from the norm for MSR and us at facewest. MSR are famous for their well featured, lightweight backpacking tents like the Hubba and Elixir range. The Habitude 4 and 6 person tents take much of the design features of the Hubba and make everything bigger. More height, longer and wider to accommodate groups and families.

The most obvious difference between the Habitude and MSR’s backpacking tents is the height. The internal height is 6 foot! As a 6 foot tall person I can tell you that being able to stand up inside a tent is something special.

Inside the main compartment there are plenty of mesh pockets and hanging loops to keep all your kit organised. At 2.4m x 2.4m, the main compartment of the Habitude 4 is very roomy, giving plenty of room for a group of 4 to move around, or play cards in wet weather, and allowing even the tallest people to lie out flat for a comfortable nights sleep.

The outer fly is durable and waterproof providing plenty of protection from wind and rain, the glacier blue fly creates soothing lighting inside which helps early bed times for those with kids. The are plenty of guy points round the tent making it surprisingly stable for a tent over 6 foot high.

At 5.7kg the Habitude 4 isn’t winning any lightweight awards but it does have a relatively small pack size for such a large tent. Its small enough to take up very little room in a car boot, or will fit comfortably in a kit list for a kayaking trip.
