Here’s the top picks from Arcteryx of what’s new to us or has been updated for the autumn/winter 2018 season. It’s mostly in stock, though a few products aren’t due with us until next week (17th September).
Beta SV Jacket
The latest variation of the Beta line of waterproofs is the SV (Severe). It’s the toughest of all the Beta jackets and it has been designed to stand up to the harshest weather. Constructed from 3 layer Gore-Tex Pro with an 80 denier nylon face fabric it’s waterproof and breathable as well as being able to withstand tough use and abrasion.
With patterning to allow it to move with you, a regular fit and pit zips it makes an ideal all round jacket for going out in bad weather.
Cerium SV Hoody
The Cerium range is designed to be the ultimate in lightweight warmth and the SV is the largest and warmest of them all. It features 850 fill power goose down, mapped so to allow the down to work at its most efficient, and with Coreloft in damp prone areas it’s amongst the best in terms of warmth to weight and has a small pack size.
Gamma MX Jacket
The Gamma MX Hoody has been the most popular Arcteryx softshell jacket we’ve sold for a while and now we have the MX Jacket, a hoodless version. Being hoodless it is more suited as a layering piece, under a waterproof or as a fast and light option for any mountain activity.
Womens Atom AR Hoody
The Atom AR is a warm and lightweight jacket which features only synthetic insulation. The outer, although not waterproof, does provide good protection from the wind and damp while the Coreloft insulation keeps it lightweight and enables it to pack down small.
It’s a great throw on outer layer for cooler days, ideal for belays and lunch stops. For slower paced activities it is relatively breathable so suitable to be worn for long periods on cold days as well as as a midlayer if it’s really cold and a shell is needed over the top.

The Alpha AR Pants are tough Gore-Tex Pro waterproof trousers with 100 denier nylon face fabric for excellent durability in tough environments. They have a great set of features for climbing an mountaineering including a drop seat, an internal leg wrap around the ankle to avoid crampon snags and e3D patterning to give excellent freedom of movement.
Fission Glove
The Fission Gloves are waterproof, insulated gloves designed for snowsports. The outer consists of hardwearing Fortius softshell and leather and they have a Gore-Tex liner for waterproofing.
They have a long gauntlet cuff for extended coverage over your jacket (see the the Sabre Glove for a shorter cuff glove of similar design), reinforced palm and fingers and Grip control for minimal slippage between the layers of the glove.
