The past week or two have been a little quieter here at Facewest. Stu and Jake are both away skiing, whilst the weather and social commitments have the kept the rest of us indoors more than usual.
James is now back from 5 weeks skiing in Meribel, a post about this is coming later, and has leapt straight back into his mountain biking with a trip to Gisburn Forest on Sunday. The weather ranged from sunshine to hail to snow and back to sunshine over the day which made for a muddy time but plenty of trails were ridden and a great time was had.
Tim’s been quiet this week but spent last weekend attempting the classic Left Wall at Brimham. After a few hours of yoyo-ing the pump won and defeat was conceded but definitely one wo come back to.
Steve took the opportunity to escape from a house full of builders to disappear to the Southern Uplands and spent four days roaming between bothies just east of Moffat. This is one of my favourite parts of the country and as beautiful and quiet a mountain area as you can find in the UK. I may well be following in his footsteps come the summer.
I’m still taking full advantage of our proximity to some of the best Gritstone bouldering in the country and have been out with my pad 6 days out of the last 7. I’m completely exhausted and my elbows are grumbling so I’m almost glad that this week looks like being damp. Still, I’ve ticked loads of problems at Caley and am feeling stronger than I have in years.
So there you go, nothing especially exciting but it’s great knowing that even in these damp months, there’s still loads going on outdoors.
Sam
